We're thrilled that Barack is our nominee - and proud to be part of the amazing outpouring of creativity

that has supported his campaign.

On a tiny budget and with mostly volunteer staff YrMomma4Obama was able to reach out to young people in

key primary states (TX, OH, IN, PA and NC). Huge thanks to David Hendee who designed our site and all our

graphics!

We partnered with the Roots at their college shows in three states- recruiting students at Purdue, Duke,

and Carnegie Mellon onto our text message alert lists and providing them with information about how to get

involved, and get their parents on board, reaching approximately 15,000 young people directly at these

shows with announcements from the stage, banners, and flyers.  Thanks to Dominic for all his help!

We partnered with Students for Obama groups and Spectre Media in each state to spread the word and conduct

 our outreach - many thanks to the people who helped out.



In PA we partnered with Tayyib Smith and FiveSix Productions to run "Barack to Basics" the night before

the PA primary in Philly- reaching tens of thousands of young Philly voters through ads, posters, flyers,

and the live event.  King Britt performed and drew a huge crowd.

For key late primaries we took out targeted facebook ads aimed at high school students, reaching hundreds

of thousands of young people and giving them a way to get involved in the election, even though they're

We've raised several thousand dollars to support our operations and are thankful for the support of Vote Hope

as our fiscal agent.

influencing their parents' voting decisions

YrMomma Indiana and North Carolina weekend - facebook ads!

YrMomma is reaching out to the folks we recruited at our recent Purdue and Duke events to make sure they and

their mommas are ready to vote on Tuesday.

Just like in PA, we're buying targeted facebook ads in each state to make sure young people are doing as much as they can to support Barack.

Here's one example - this "Too Young to Vote?" ad will be seen by 14-17 year olds in Indiana all weekend, reaching more than 100K young pre-voters!

around for a couple of months and works as a standalone application.
The intended audience is young, so the site has features for both
voters and those still unable to cast a ballot. Its core function: the
site lets you send a message to your cell phone, which you can then
forward to friends and family. Of course, you can also sign up for text
alerts for upcoming primaries, and the organizers have also created a
Facebook group.

YrMomma has been on the ground in Indiana, Pennsylvania, and North Carolina. We've partnered with the Roots to distribute materials at their shows at Purdue, Carnegie Mellon, and Duke. We connected directly with thousands of college students, encouraging them to vote for Obama, as well as to get their parents on board. We've been partnering with Students for Obama groups on each campus to keep spreading the word after the shows are over - they've been great to work with. Here are some photos from the events:

Senator Barack Obama’s devotees just won’t give their parents a break.

As
the race for the Democratic presidential nomination continues, youthful
volunteers for each candidate have been campaigning with bright-eyed
brio, not only door-to-door but also at home. But the young supporters
of Mr. Obama, who has captured a majority of under-30 primary voters,
seem to be leading in the pestering sweepstakes. They send their
parents the latest Obama YouTube videos, blog exhortations and “Tell
Your Mama/Vote for Obama!” bumper stickers.

PA Senator Casey endorses Obama...because of his daughters!

Pennsylvania Senator Bob Casey announced today that he is endorsing Barack Obama.

Here's an excerpt from a Yahoo news story on the subject:

Casey said enthusiasm for Obama by family members — including his four
daughters — was part of his reason for endorsing now. He said he did a
lot of thinking over the Easter holiday.

"When people you love and people you respect in your family or
community are not just supportive of him, but incredibly enthusiastic
about his candidacy, that has had an impact on my thinking and the way
I approach this," he said. "I didn't think that at this point in our
history with the stakes so high that I could stay on the sidelines once
I had made a decision about who, the person I'd vote for."

Coordinated Text Message/ Facebook/ Online/ Street Team Campaign

AUSTIN (March 2, 2008) – YrMomma4Obama.com, a first of it’s kind multi-platform campaign launched on the ground in
Texas last week with a diverse group of students, political activists and entertainment professionals to support Barack
Obama’s candidacy with innovative outreach strategies. Using the latest social networking, viral, and peer-to-peer
marketing techniques, while taking a page from the music industry’s playbook, the young voters behind
YrMomma4Obama are urging peers to talk directly to their parents and the adults in their lives about their support for
Obama’s candidacy.

“Is yr Mama 4 Obama? We need our parents to vote for him 2 win TX on Mar 4. Pass this on to everyone u know and tell
your parents how u feel. Gobama!” is an example of the text messages that started flying last week around Texas and
Ohio with YrMomma4Obama’s launch. Street teams are on the ground through the March 4 primaries at UT Austin and
Texas State University in San Marcos distributing materials and engaging young voters while a rapidly growing Facebook
group reaches out to voters online.

“Young people overwhelmingly support Obama - In a recent RT Strategies poll of 18-34 year olds, more than 55% of
young Democratic voters supported Barack Obama. Young people in Texas, Ohio, and Pennsylvania will support him
enthusiastically. Now we just need to make sure our parents vote for him too” said Amber Goodwin of Texas State
University, YrMomma4Obamma’s Outreach Director.

“We started Yrmomma4obama to encourage young people to take even more leadership in this election and to get
them to influence the votes of their parents, friends, and families. Obama must perform well among older voters to
win the key large states of TX and PA. Young voters can influence their parents to vote for Obama in this historic
election” Catherine Geanuracos one of the group’s founders said. “YrMomma4Obama combines traditional grassroots
organizing (word of mouth, student leadership), a peer-to-peer text message campaign, social network strategies
(facebook group) and marketing tactics more traditionally employed by the entertainment industry (street teams) to
get the word out and win these states for Obama.”

YrMomma4Obama was inspired in part by Christine "Roz" Samuels, a former Clinton superdelegate from New Jersey who
switched her support to Barack Obama and told the Huffington Post that her adult children (all Obama supporters)
influenced her decision to join the Obama delegate count column. Young people are participating in the Democratic
primaries in unprecedented numbers. A Time magazine poll recently found that 74% of young people are paying
attention to the campaign, and young people are doubling, tripling, or quadrupling their turnout in primaries and
caucuses compared to the 2000 and 2004 elections. YrMomma4Obamma offers another way for them to make their
voices heard.

It’s a simple site encouraging young people to text their friends and
parents about Obama, offering template suggestions like “Is yr Mama 4
Obama? We need our parents to vote for him 2 win TX on Mar 4. Pass this
on to everyone u know and tell your parents how u feel. Gobama!” It
would take me about 25 minutes to type all that on a cell phone, but
these young’uns are political and technological aces.
